SHORE POWER

Shore power

Inlets, cords, and the transfer equipment between the pedestal and the panel. When shore power trips, browns out, or will not hold, we trace the cause rather than reset and hope.

DISTRIBUTION

Distribution panels

AC and DC panels, breakers, and busbars that route power through the vessel. We service, correct, and label them so the panel tells the truth.

INVERTERS

Inverters and chargers

The equipment that keeps house loads alive away from the dock. We troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade inverters and chargers, and verify them under real load.

BATTERIES

Battery banks

House and start banks: tested, maintained, and replaced when the numbers say so. Capacity is measured, not assumed.

WIRING

Wiring and troubleshooting

Faults traced to the connection or conductor that caused them. Marine wiring fails in predictable places, and we know where to look.

MONITORING

Monitoring and controls

Battery monitors, system controls, and alarms that tell you the truth about the vessel’s power. We service what exists and upgrade what should.

For the captain and engineer
  • Faults are traced with meters and the vessel’s drawings, not by swapping parts until the symptom moves.
  • Work closes with a written record of readings, corrections, and any circuit changes, for the vessel’s file.
  • Shutdowns are scheduled with the captain or engineer so ship’s operations continue around the work.
  • Aboard crewed vessels we protect finished surfaces, keep the work area contained, and treat everything we see as private.

Assess at the slip

We test at the vessel’s slip: voltages, loads, and connections, measured and recorded. You get a finding and a plan before repairs begin.

Service and verify

The repair is made and then proven under load, not just at rest. A circuit that only behaves with nothing running is not fixed.

Document and stand behind it

You receive a written record of what was found, changed, and verified. If it does not hold, we come back.

Shore power keeps tripping when we connect. Can you find the cause at the slip?
Yes, and the slip is the right place to find it, since the fault involves the pedestal, the cord, and the vessel together. We test each in turn dockside and trace the trip to its source. Marinas covered include Lake Union, Westlake, Eastlake, Elliott Bay, and Shilshole Bay.
Can you replace or upgrade a battery bank?
Yes. We test the existing bank first, since a charging fault can look exactly like tired batteries. If replacement is the answer, we size and install the bank and verify charging across all sources.
Do you work on large, complex vessels?
Yes. We service yachts from 52 to 200 feet. On larger vessels that means full distribution systems, multiple shore power services, and coordination with the captain or engineer; on smaller vessels it is often a single panel and a pair of banks. The approach is the same either way: diagnose methodically, document clearly.
Do you service inverters and chargers?
Yes. We troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade inverters and chargers, and verify them under real load before leaving. Monitoring is checked on the same visit so the readouts match reality.
